Yesterday during my quiet time, God made a point to me. He asked me, "What is the Word for? What is the purpose of learning the verses of the Bible, one a day?"
I thought about it, and replied, "That we may take it in spiritually and consider, and follow and abide by it."
And he said, "Repeat the last phrase"
"To follow and abide by it."
This morning, I opened up the Daily Bread. Today's teaching was Ezekiel 33:32 - 'You are to them as a very lovely song . . . they hear your words, but they do not do them.'
In basic urban talk, God's saying we need to 'walk the talk'. To not just read everything on the pages but to act according to what is written. The Word is our guide, and the light unto our path.
It is not to say God forces us into it, and that's what makes it awesome - Knowing God is a loving God who would never force us into anything, but wishes for us to go through life much more smoothly and easily with Him through His Word, prayer and intimacy.
